Dobrý den!
The Czech Slovak American Club of Tucson began to meet for the first time in 1954 and was incorporated as a non profit organization in 1955. The Club welcomes persons of Czech, Moravian or Slovakian descent, their friends, families, as well as others who enjoy the social, cultural and educational activities of the organization. The Club is based in Tucson, Arizona, however, participants are welcome from all communities.
The purpose of the Club is to promote our culture and keep informed of what is happening in our homeland. Membership dues are $30 per year per person, $20 for students, $20 for children 6 to 12, free for children under 6, and $20 for out-of-state members, and payable in January to the Treasurer. A lifetime membership is available for $100. Election for new officers is at the November Monthly Meeting and installation is at the Christmas party in December.
The Club meets for a Social gathering once a month on the second Sunday, from September through May. Meetings are held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1330 S. Mountain View Avenue, Tucson (Mountain View is one block East of Swan Road and 22nd Street). Doors open at 1:00 pm with a pot luck meal generally served at 1:30 pm, followed by a business meeting and entertainment. For the meal, the Club usually provides a main meat entree and members are asked to bring compementary dishes and/or dessert. Nonmembers and guests are asked to make a $5 donation for their meal.
Announcements of meetings and activities are placed in the local newspapers and announced on KSAZ radio. A newsletter is sent to all members once a month prior to our gathering.

Kroj Guidelines (From the American Czech-Slovak Cultural Club - Miami, FL) The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library (NCSML) has released a set of guidelines to help Czech & Slovak pageant contestants with the selection of a kroj that they will wear for their competition. The guidelines deal with kroj history, regional details, availability, recommendations, tips and more. While these guidelines are intended for contestants they will be interesting to many as they contain a great deal of unique and hard-to-find information about kroje. A link to a printable Acrobat version can be found at the end of the guidelines - 05/18/03 See the Kroj Guideleines
